Connect a physical switch to ODL controller

Hello, just thinking of the situation, I had an openFlow enabled Physical switch(dedicated hardware instead on a software emulator) and it needs to be orchestrated using the ODL. I have done the same thing but not with the physical switch.

Any ideas on this ?

Your physical switch will have some configuration that allows one to configure controller. It will [most likely] involve specifying the controller IP and controller port [unless defaults to 6633 or 6653]. Might be able to give exact answer if you can tell which particular device this is.

Hello Vishal, Thanks for the input.Unfortunately my switch doesn't support openFlow :(.So need to use OVS now. But I have another question, i have a switch which is outside openstack framework (earlier it was supposed to be a physical switch, but now its an OVS running independenltly).......

Any ideas how this can be done? Do I need to write some OSGI app for ODL or some other functionality is already there in ODL ?

Depends on what you need to configure. You can configure this external switch to connect to ODL too using setmanager or creating br-int on it and adding controller configuration to it.
