Is there a way to programmatically program flows from a topology without going through the forwarding rules manager?

It was really nice to be able to program flows via the TopologyManager(AD-SAL) but when I look at the MD-SAL APIs it does not look like it has a method for adding a flow.

At the end of the day, I want to be able to program flows directly from a Topology node.

The MD-SAL FRM is driven by writing into the configuration data store -- it will pick up any flows added to its subtree (flow-management.yang I think).

For REST APIs see:

For Java example see:;a=blob;f=test-provider/src/main/java/org/opendaylight/openflowplugin/test/
