I have ODL(OpenDayLight) installed on my host machine and mininet installed on my guest machine. The topology created using mininet is reflected in ODL. But when I ping one host from the other in mininet , it says "Destination host unreachable". Please suggest any leads.

Which edition are you running? cause the application you're looking for is simple forwarding.

The Service provider edition needs more memory than the other editions, i'm guessing you maybe running into error like this on the OSGi console

Exception: java.lang.OutOfMemoryError thrown from the UncaughtExceptionHandler in thread "CommitFutures-3"
2014-09-09 09:17:43.920 PDT [nioEventLoopGroup-13-2] WARN i.n.channel.DefaultChannelPipeline - An exceptionCaught() event was fired, and it reached at the tail of the pipeline. It usually means the last handler in the pipeline did not handle the exception.
java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: PermGen space

can you please try and start the controller like below

./run.sh –Xmx2G –XX:MaxPermSize=256M
