I am starting up my PG project on SDN using Opendaylight. I have issues installing fedora 20. Is ubuntu 12 or 14 or centos completely compatible with opendaylight helium?

Yes, OpenDaylight is compatible with ubuntu 14.04. Here is the wiki page on how to install to your machine.

Yes, OpenDaylight is compatible with Ubuntu 14.04. We do most of our ODL development on Ubuntu/Kubuntu 14.04.

The only requirement for ODL is to have the Java runtime installed.
