Hello, I am fairly new to OpenDayLight and SDN. I have installed ODL, Lithium, and enabled some features using following command:

feature:install odl-dlux-all odl-restconf-all odl-l2switch-switch-ui

then I have created a simple network in mininet and connected it to ODL contrller. Now my problem is when I login to DLUX it seems some featues are missing, like:

  • there is no logout button,
  • when I drag the nodes in the topology the whole network moves with it, in other words the whole topology is wobbly
  • when I use 'iperf' or 'ping' no data is shown
  • tables don't have table-id, etc.
I have attached some screen-shots below. are these behaviors normal or I'm doing something wrong?

Absolutely all are normal behavior... It is a open source and I feel you are welcome to enhance dlux and contribute. Note: I am just a opendaylight learner.

Regarding "when I use 'iperf' or 'ping' no data is shown"

From screenshots, I think, you are using Mininet with OVS (Open Virtual Switch) to simulate your topology. If yes, here is the reason you are seeing these:

Minitet + OVS started with empty database, hence switch does not have any info/flow for how to forward packets. So you need to add 'DEFAULT' flow in all your switches. To add default flow in all switches use following POST rest call:

URL: "http://localhost:8181/restconf/config/opendaylight-inventory:nodes/node/openflow:1/table/0/flow/100

Authentication: "admin/admin"

Content-Type: "application/json"

Payload: "{ "flow": { "instructions": { "instruction": { "order": "0", "apply-actions": { "action": { "order": "0", "output-action": { "output-node-connector": "NORMAL" } } } } }, "tableid": "0", "id": "100", "cookiemask": "10", "installHw": "false", "hard-timeout": "0", "cookie": "10", "idle-timeout": "0", "flow-name": "FloodFlow", "priority": "100", "barrier": "false" } }"

Regarding "tables don't have table-id, etc."

Can you share what exactly you get for "http://localhost:8181/restconf/operational/opendaylight-inventory:nodes/node/openflow:1"?

Thanks for your answer mandeep. I was wondering if you or any one else knows how to resolve these two issues, from my original post:

  • when I use 'iperf' or 'ping' no data is shown
  • tables don't have table-id
