how can I establish connection between Lithium ODL and two mininet at same time?

asked 2015-08-12 22:44:49 -0700

Hi, I am new to ODL. I was trying to manage two mininet on the different host using same ODL controller.

I tried pointing the 2nd mininet to the ODL, but I didn't see any new host listed in ODL dlux!

Is it possible to add two or more Mininet at the same time?

Please help me with suggestions!

Thanks in advance.

That is because your switches have the same DPIDs and IP addresses. You can use your mininet as it is. But for the other one you have to create what they call "custom topology" to make it work. It is not very complicated.

Read the Custom Topologies

you can run the mininet with a custom topology with the command below. sudo mn --controller=remote,[ip of your controller] --custom --topo mytopo

With this you can run two mininets with one ODL! Below is my screen capture. image description

Good luck and ask me if you have a further question.

Labry & mandeep, Since I am new to the OpenDayLight I have no idea about where to start from. So It would be helpful if you have any suggestion for me to start from zero.

Not yet tried with 2 Mininet...(trying it now, will update exact behavior.)

But, I have a setup with One MIninet (with 3 switches) by following command: sudo mn --controller=remote,ip={ODL_IP} --topo=tree,depth=2

And at same time, I have our TWO real switches, and when I set controller IP I can see all all 5 nodes in ODL operational data store.

I think (not sure exact ovs command), if you set controller IP correctly you should be able to see nodes from both mininets.
