Hi Guys,

In my ODL instances are getting created very slowly. Any idea about how to resolve this issue & make ODL run faster?

My system configuration is very high considering all aspects, so there is hardware or memory issue.

Regards, Harish

I suspect this could be due to JAVA_OPTS. Take a look at this link and try increasing memory in your JAVA_OPTS and see if it helps.

two things come to mind:

  1. are you loading a lot of features at startup? those would be defined in etc/org.apache.karaf.features.cfg

  2. there was an issue in the past where starting things required a connection to the internet because it was trying to download some packages. If you are using a version with this bug, and are behind a proxy you can add proxy info to your .m2 settings.xml.

Also, you can look in data/log/karaf.log for any obvious trouble while trying to start up.

for 2nd option, was that bug in Lithium version ? if yes then how to resolve that?

I don't think #2 was an issue for Lithium. here is the original bug: https://bugs.opendaylight.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1918 also, there is a CI job that is passing that checks for this: https://jenkins.opendaylight.org/releng/view/integration/job/integration-distribution-offline-stable-lithium/
