The ODL VTN uses OpenFlow protocol. It sends OpenFlow messages, and installs flow entries into OpenFlow switches to control how the switches forward packets. To isolate communication between different virtual networks, the ODL VTN utilizes match fields of flow entries based on VTN configuration (VTN, vBridge, mapping, and etc.).

Dear hideyuki, thankyou for your answer. As you said, here comes my understanding of the VTN, if there's error, please point me out: VTN mapping virtual network to phyiscal network resources, so forwarding packets in the virtual network will be transform to OpenFlow protocol in the phyiscal network, the phyiscal network kown which virtual network node will receive this packet.
