I ran controller/opendaylight/distribution/opendaylight-karaf/target/assembly/bin/karaf to bring up the karaf system. Then i ran,

lsof -iTCP -sTCP:LISTEN -n

to check the ports that karaf uses.

COMMAND FD TYPE DEVICE SIZE/OFF NODE NAME

java 29u IPv6 2103184 0t0 TCP *:37653 (LISTEN)
java 46u IPv6 2103187 0t0 TCP 127.0.0.1:38872 (LISTEN)
java 69u IPv6 2104565 0t0 TCP *:rmiregistry (LISTEN)
java 127u IPv6 2100081 0t0 TCP *:8101 (LISTEN)
java 148u IPv6 2105663 0t0 TCP *:44444 (LISTEN)

So, sometimes Karaf was using port 8080 but not in this case. Can someone explain, what purpose each port serves? are all of them configurable manually?
