I installed maven, git and jdk in my fedora 20! Downloaded karaf ! Ran controller and installed features listed in installation and user guides ! I get topology ,connection manager ,flows and yang ,bt not NODES ! Also system hangs seriously when i run karaf or install features! SLJF4 warnings are also thrown ! Please help me atleast discover nodes and send packets to other nodes!

Could you add links to guides you followed? What do you mean by hang? If you mean you don't get karaf prompt, you need to hit enter once to get it. If you don't get it even after hitting enter then it is something to look into. Check the karaf log files, see any exceptions in there?

Vishal, i got the error in link and https://ask.opendaylight.org/question/961/helium-distro-error-executing-command-no-feature-named-transaction-with-version-000-available/ so tried the soln, given , the next time , i run the karaf file, it takes long time ! I also get Sljf4 warning stating multiple bindings in class path! Also wen i check my topology, there is no field name NODE, so that i can see the nodes connected in a network! i referred installation and user guide in this opendaylight.org

As mentioned in the link, that error is a sign of maven not setup properly. Using the wrong settings.xml, proxy not configured or using wrong repo. Are you running ODL behind a proxy and/or a slow connection?

Could you clarify what you mean by "discover another laptop"? I believe you mean other laptop running some virtual switch like OVS or CPqD, in which case you need to configure the VS with ODL as controller.
