I have ODL and mininet with linear topology to 2 switches and i want to create a tunnel between them. What are its curl commands?

If you have a linear topology, the two switches should be layer 2 adjacent, without the need for tunneling (you may need to set up flows for forwarding to occur). Tunneling is typically used between layer 3 entities.

My understanding was: Tunnelling can be between layer 2 and layer3. For Layer3 GRE tunnels can be used but for layer2 Vxlan tunnel can be used. I thought with OVS-DB we can create vxlan tunnel between ovs-switches. Please correct me if am wrong in my understanding.

Yes, OVSDB can create VxLAN tunnels between OVS hosts. However, the tunnel will use the layer 3 IP addresses of those OVS hosts. Indeed tunneling can be used *for* transporting both layer 2 frames and layer 3 packets in *overlays* but the underlay is l3.

Thanks for the clarification.
