Is there a step-by-step procedure to setup ODL to discover an SNMP device?

Perhaps it would be a good idea to browse through & subscribe snmp related mailing lists given on below link:

As per my understanding since SNMP MIB files are not same for every device/product, you need to write your own plugin to discover an SNMP based device.

There is a standard SNMP2 MIB which provides a few fields such as sysObjectID etc which the majority of devices out there support - so it is possible to do initial discovery generically for the majority of SNMP devices. That said, it doesn't help answer you specific question :)

While I have not used the SNMP feature in ODL yet, check out the SNMP4ODL project page - it looks like it provides lots of information and likely contain some tutorials to get you started.
