Connecting to ODL console using SSH

Is it possible to connect to a running OpenDaylight Karaf instance using SSH? For instance, when ODL was started using ./karaf server &?

I tried ssh localhost -p 8101, but don't know the correct username / password. Is this the correct approach? If so, how can I find or configure the correct credentials?

You can start ODL with a headless Karaf server using ./bin/start. Once that's running (will take a few seconds), you can connect via SSH like this:

ssh -p 8101 -o UserKnownHostsFile=/dev/null -o StrictHostKeyChecking=no karaf@localhost

The default password is karaf. If you'd like to script a connection, you can use sshpass like this:

sshpass -p karaf ssh -p 8101 -o UserKnownHostsFile=/dev/null -o StrictHostKeyChecking=no karaf@localhost

An alternative way to connect to a running ODL instance is ./bin/client. It'll grab you a Karaf shell without directly using SSH. To drop into a shell when you initially start ODL, use ./bin/karaf.
