Not able to read flows installed by ODL using ADSAL rest api

asked 2014-12-03 22:55:53 -0700

updated 2014-12-03 23:25:54 -0700

For the learning purpose, I am using Hydrogen release of ODL and mininet. I observed that when I ping host1 to host2 ODL does install flow based of target IP address to the switch, but if I try to read the flows using the REST apis I receive empty list in the response.

If I add the flow from the application or from ODL dashboard, then I correctly receive back the flows in REST response message.

EDIT: I used the rest call : http://localhost:8080/controller/nb/v2/flowprogrammer/default/node/OF/00:00:00:00:00:00:00:01

Please let me know, if I am missing anything.

Without seeing the REST calls you are using, my hunch is that you are polling the config datastore to see the flows. e.g.,
/restconf/config/opendaylight-inventory:nodes/node/openflow:1/table/0

You would be pushing flows to the config datastore with the GUI, and those would be returned via REST even if they are not programmed on the switch.

To see the flows that are operating in the switch currently, try the operational datastore. e.g., /restconf/operational/opendaylight-inventory:nodes/node/openflow:1/table/0

If the switch is having certain flows, but the operational datastore doesn't reflect it, then maybe some deeper issue is there.

sorry, I missed where you mentioned hydrogen. I've only had experience with the helium release, so I can't offer any other ideas. :(

I tried with the operational data store : http://localhost:8080/restconf/operational/opendaylight-inventory:nodes/node/00:00:00:00:00:00:00:01/table/0 but I received response "No data exist".

How did you start the controller? with the -of13 ? Cause i don't believe the default openflow works with MD-SAL

I started the controller with `./run.sh` without any parameter.
