You need to configure the connection to the controller on the OpenFlow-capable switch. Usually you only need set to the IP address of the OpenDaylight controller. You should be able to find the exact command for your switch in the switch's documentation.

Layer 2 connectivity is provided by the "L2Switch" plug-in for OpenDaylight. All other functionality (like L3 routing) depends on the applications or plug-ins you are using with OpenDaylight.

Thank you, but could you tell me for specific application or plug-ins you know for L3 routing for ODL?

Depending on what functionality you need, you will have to write your own application. If you only need basic functionality, you can program L3 flows on your switch using OpenDaylight's web interface (http://controller:8181/index.html).
