Hi,

I am quite new to Opendaylight and I would like to know if there is any document or article which can provide me details about how to use NETCONF client in ODL to configure a device with with NETCONF server.

I would also like to know where I should upload the yang files which are supported by the remote node in ODL.

Thanks in advance

Hello,

You can also checkout this slide deck from the ODLSummit2016, about NETCONF usability. Associated video

Hope this helps at first. If you have more precise questions, don't hesitate.

Hi,

I was trying to follow links you mentioned and connect/mount to the NETCONF server via ODL 'netconf-connector'. And as I understood ODL is like a re-transmitter, it re-transmit commands, requests, operation that other CLI sends to the server. They just getting through the ODL netconf-connector plugin.

What the point of having this connector then, if you can directly talk to NETCONF server via external NETCONF CLI.

In other words, there is no way to talk to the NETCONF server directly from ODL? Is it possible to establish a session with NETCONF server from ODL and then modify data, or run RPCs, etc?

Thanks

Yes, mount your netconf device, and read/write data and call RPCs from the netconf device using RESTCONF. See those examples or slide 9 of the deck linked above.
