I'm seeing the following error. I have been running Hydrogen successfully.

Can you give some more details about what you did to get ODL running? Did you use the pre-built SR1 release or did you build from source?

I have used pre-built SR1 release. I run karaf.bat, it opens up the opendaylight shell. Once in the shell I cannot run anything, keep getting "Error executing command: java.lang.NullPointerException" if i run any command.

Based on the output you provided, it looks like you're using Java 8. According to tbachman on #opendaylight, that's a known issue with SR1 on Windows with Java 8. Downgrading to Java 7 should solve it.
