what's the nodeid naming-rule?

In Hydrogen vertion, nodeid is like "MD_SAL|openflow:xxxxxxx", where 'xxxxxx' is node's MAC value plus '1000000,000000', in decimal base. But sometimes, we could get "OF|xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx", where "xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx" is node's MAC value. What's the naming regulation?

Is there particular reason why are you using Hydrogen over Helium, which is current release?
