Sample-Hello-Project

Go through this link . And try! . What problem are you facing at simple example project? make sure your maven, java are set properly. If you are behind proxy, set proxy details in m2/settings.xml . I believe simply copy pasting the above link mvn archetype should generate the project structure as well its compilation will be success.

Are you running maven as sudo user?

yes.. my maven repo is not there under ~/.m2/ only settings.xml is there where is maven repo?

Run maven without sudo, since your .m2 is in your home not in root. In future add the errors you are facing for better answers.
