OpenStack Integration: Does OpenDaylight use or replace neutron?

I followed the PDF that the current OpenDaylight Beryllium download page points to.

When you integrate OpenDaylight with OpenStack Neutron, does the ODL controller replace neutron or use the neutron API's to control the network?

After you configure Neutron to use ODL and run a neutron command from the CLI, does this pass authority off to the ODL controller to execute commands, or does the it call the neutron API to execute commands and then update ODL?

AFAIK Partially it replaces Neutron. ML2 plugin present in the Neutron Proxies all the REST API calls to OpenDaylight at Northbound and OpenDaylight does all the work like creating networks, subnets and other stuff. Neutron controls only L3 agents and DHCP after integration. Hope this helps.
