Hi! I'm Alvise, and i'm trying to start Opendaylight with the integration of Karaf through the developer guide. I had no problems with the installation, i've also crated the Example project from the developer guide all was working, but when i start karaf from the folder ~/controller/karaf/opendaylight-karaf/target/assembly/bin it's not working, and the first time i have this error: Error installing bundle listed in startup.properties with url: wrap:mvn:javax.servlet.jsp/jsp-api/2.1 and startlevel: 30 Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NullPointerException at org.apache.karaf.main.Main.destroy(Main.java:525) at org.apache.karaf.main.Main.main(Main.java:173)

When i restart Karaf the error disappear, but the prompt is showing only this: karaf: Enabling Java debug options: -Xdebug -Xnoagent -Djava.compiler=NONE -Xrunjdwp:transport=dtsocket,server=y,suspend=n,address=5005 Listening for transport dtsocket at address: 5005

I've also checked the karaf.log and i have this inside: Jan 25, 2016 11:47:37 AM org.apache.karaf.main.lock.SimpleFileLock lock INFO: Trying to lock /home/ubuntu/controller/karaf/opendaylight-karaf/target/assembly/lock Jan 25, 2016 11:47:37 AM org.apache.karaf.main.lock.SimpleFileLock lock INFO: Lock acquired Jan 25, 2016 11:47:37 AM org.apache.karaf.main.Main$KarafLockCallback lockAquired INFO: Lock acquired. Setting startlevel to 100

I have java version "1.7.0_91" and Apache Maven 3.3.3 and i am working on a Virtual machine with Linux. It's 2 days that i'm working on it but without results, if someone has any idea i appreciate it a lot. Thanks!

Please down load an OpenDaylight kit from the website for your initial environment testing.

Using Karaf directly from the controller build might not be stable at all times (its development code).

That being said, the distribution should be able to start up -- its strange that Karaf started in Debug mode, usually Karaf starts up in normal mode.

My apologies for the long delay in finding this ask ticket, I'm trying to groom ODL Karaf questions more proactively.

This error (NullPointerException at org.apache.karaf.main.Main.destroy) is https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse... and seems to mean that an OSGi bundle required for early stage start up is not found under the system/ local Karaf Maven repo directory. We're also chasing this in https://bugs.opendaylight.org/show_bu... .
