You need to configure the connection to the controller on the OpenFlow-capable switch. Usually you only need set to the IP address of the OpenDaylight controller. You should be able to find the exact command for your switch in the switch's documentation.

Layer 2 connectivity is provided by the "L2Switch" plug-in for OpenDaylight. All other functionalities depend on the applications or plug-ins you are using with OpenDaylight.
