The Nexus webUI only uses REST to communicate with the backend process. You can easily inspect what the webUI is doing if you want, or do some googling on Sonatype Nexus REST.

Finally, if you already know the basic coordinates of the objects you're looking for, there is a maven-metadata.xml file that is at the top of each groupID/artifactID location in the repositories that lists out all of the versions for a particular artifact, including the most current one. For instance using the groupID and artifactID you searched for in your example and looking in just the releases repository you'll find this metadata file.
